Latenight Kennel Club with Nancy Macaulay
This was one the most challenging musical experiences I’ve ever had. We played a music genre that I wouldn’t have had an opportunity to create or perform. Purchasing a Gretsch White Falcon gave me new found inspiration with its unique voicing and dynamics.
Late Night Kennel Club has the duo of Vern Warta and Nancy Macaulay at its core and adds members of their circle of experienced musicians as the venue dictates. Thus as the name implies, they are a collection of mixed-breed tastes… no purebreds allowed. They’ve built a genre that is an unlikely styling of Gypsy Jazz, Blues, Surf Noir and Western Swing. Taking full advantage of the strengths of the players in the band, the music is a combining of virtuoso guitar (acoustic and electric, featuring the sweet sounds only a Gretsch Falcon can produce) and rich vocals, some with three-part harmony… a Kennel Club mix of new music and vintage, innovation and irreverence. You never know when a Kennel Club guest player might show up to run with the pack.
