John Williams and the Honky Tonk Buicks
I was lead guitar in this band for 16 years. During our hay day we were the House band at the Landslide Saloon for most of those 16 years. The band built a regular following that didn’t let up until the sale of the establishment. Some of my best memories of the Slide was performing at the Pigroasts every Spring and Fall. When the band was just getting started I was proud to have my son Matthew Warta playing Bass guitar for us.Sadly gone are John Williams, Gene Schiebel and Jimmy Thompson.
Back in the Saddle Band - 1980
This was a band I transitioned from playing acoustic instruments to pedal steel guitar. The were a couple people changed during that time in the band. Pictured, ( left to right) are Bill Ihling on bass, Me, Dave Turner rhythm guitar, Jack Scott drums and Michael Carr lead guitar.
This band performed music by Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Little Feat, Commander Cody and others.
